Today, John and I took the dogs for a beautiful walk at Turkey Creek Nature Trail a few miles outside Austin. It was a bittersweet time for me, remembering all the times I walked that trail with Nickie and her pack mates and dog friends. She loved every minute of those walks, and of life in general. She lived it to the fullest.
It is hard to believe it was five years ago that we lost our Nickie; it seems like yesterday and the emptiness of that loss remains with me. I often feel her presence, especially in all the places she loved, and I still miss her. RIP, my sweet friend. You will always be with me in my heart.
