As I review blog posts from late 2025 and early this year, I realize just how much I failed to report. There is a belated wrap-up.
As you know from previous posts, Brian and Debi joined us for Thanksgiving (as well as for Meg’s whelping, which overshadowed the rest of the weekend. Then, Gage and Gabby and their two pups paid us a quick visit between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and got in some puppy cuddles as well as some great hikes. Then, as Christmas approached, our good friend and financial consultant, Mike Price, sent us a lovely wreath. We proudly installed it on our front gate...but were dismayed a day later to learn that the goat girls had sampled it as something possibly good to eat. 😕 It wasn't too tasty, but they didn't decide that until it was only a wisp of its former self.
Rick and Linda Lorentz joined us for the Christmas-New Year’s holidays. As always, the four of us had a wonderful time. Perhaps the highlight of their visit (and where most of the guys’ time was spent) was the creation of a beautiful dining room table for our house from some of the lovely pecan wood salvaged after the demise of most of our hundreds’ year old pecan trees.
The table is a work of art, and makes me smile every time I look at it. Thanks, Rick, for helping John with this project. You two created something unique and beautiful!
Rick and Linda were forced to cut short their visit because of the passing of Rick’s mom, who had celebrated her 100th birthday a few months prior. We were sorry to see them go, but look forward to getting together with them this summer.
I'm sure I have left stuff out, but I'll add photos as I discover them. Stay tuned for TSDA winter trial series.
