Cash Cousins Reunion 2023

Family reunions are hard to organize.  It’s like herding cats to find a time when everyone can get together.  For a number of years, we were able to collect the Cash Cousins and their families and share good times, good food and good stories.  It was easier when my parents, Bob and Evelyn Jones, were alive.  Mother was the last of the three siblings who produced all of us cousins, and we gathered around her like chicks around a mother hen. (In addition to Mother, now missing are my Uncle Gene Cash, father of Karen, Kathy and Kelly, as well as my Aunt Frankie Atwood, mother of my Cousin Frances.)  Here are images of some photo collages I made of our previous get-togethers.

After several failed attempts, we finally rounded up quite a few of the cousins and reinstituted the Cash Cousins Reunion this past weekend.  We weren’t able to assemble everyone, but hope next year we can have this group plus a few more.  Here are photos from our weekend.

There were fun activities like trying to win a medal for hitting the target with the atlatl Eric brought.

Jamey showed off his skills, as well as the atlatl he made himself.

Eric also brought his bow and fire-starting paraphernalia.  Gage, Ian and Tisha tried their hands, with Sunny coaching in the proper techniques.

The family dogs had fun, too.  Cody, Dutch and Bo kept watch, ever hopeful of a "Ready...Go!" command.

Granddog Zelda had a smile on her face as she rolled in the grass.

Huey circled us all in good herding dog fashion, and Cousin Zeva snapped flies under Rick's watchful eye.

Of course, there was amazing food.  John’s chicken and ribs and Allan’s sausage anchored the meal, and there were plenty of desserts and sides to go with.  And, plenty of visiting, too.

A good time was had by all, and we look forward to more fun next year.
